I guess the most awkward thing that an employer would see in your resume was the so -called job hopping. It’s not good to see too many job history in just a short period of time, employers will think that it’s either your looking for something or there’s something wrong with you.

Hi David-,

I understand what you are saying, but my question to you is this– are you a business owner? What do you think that entails?

I am a business owner and let me tell you, that name carries so many different hats that I could have several very fitting titles. If my company folded or I closed shop, then it closed. That isn’t a lie.

It’s always good to expand our thinking of what we actually do when writing our resumes. I know I am so much more than just an “owner”.

Great overview of executive level recruiting techniques. Its important to know what the other side is doing/thinking in a debate and in your job search. That way you can be more efficient on the job hunt and recruiting top level talent.

This is a dubious list. We’re always told to NEVER ever LIE on a resume but point number 3 is almost a blatant lie.

Great post Erin! Add to the list “The Victim” – they always complain about the company conspiring against them when actually they are not truly qualified for their position, don’t understand how their company creates value for their customers and do not contribute to creating value for customers.

Exactly. Sometimes we WANT to be on that list, or at least just to tell our boss or co-worker what we think of them… but it’s best to be a ‘team player’ and keep those thoughts to ourselves.
